Privacy Policy

Skyty is an offline flight companion app that processes your data on-device by default. This privacy policy explains what data is used and when.

Who is responsible?

GPS position: Skyty reads your GPS coordinates via the operating system to show your position on the map. This data never leaves your device.
Altitude and heading: Calculated locally and stored only on-device.
Flight archive: If you use Premium and record flights, the route, duration, max altitude, and max speed are stored locally in app storage. None of this is transmitted to any server.
App settings: Themes, enabled features, destination airport are stored locally via UserDefaults.

Skyty transmits no personal data to us or third parties. The only network connections are:

Map and terrain downloads: When you download optional HD maps or terrain data, the app fetches these files from maps.skyty.app (hosted on Cloudflare R2). No personal parameters are sent, only the file URL.
Manifest check: On app launch, Skyty fetches a small JSON file from maps.skyty.app to check for data updates. The server only sees an IP address (temporarily, not stored).
Apple App Store / StoreKit: Premium purchases are handled by Apple. Apple's privacy policy applies to these transactions.

Location (When In Use): To show your position on the map.
Location (Always): Only required if auto-flight-detection is enabled, to detect flights in the background.
Local network: Skyty runs a local HTTP server on 127.0.0.1 (loopback) to serve offline map tiles to the map renderer. No real network connections.

Cloudflare R2: CDN for optional map and terrain downloads. Cloudflare may temporarily see IP addresses.
Apple App Store / StoreKit: For premium purchases.
OpenStreetMap / Protomaps: World map data sourced from these open-data projects, not queried at runtime — bundled or downloaded once.
OurAirports: Public domain airport data, bundled with the app.

Because Skyty does not store personal data on our servers, you have full control:

Deletion: Uninstall the app to remove all local data (including flight archive and settings).
Access: All stored data can be viewed in the app itself (flight archive, settings).
Objection: We do not process data on servers, so objection is not applicable.

When changes are made, the "Last updated" date below will be revised. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
